We Miss You!!

Dear Dance Moms and Girls,

I can't believe that it has been almost a month since our recital! I still have such great memories of that night, and am so thankful for the hard work that you put in last year to make our first year-in-review show a success!

We have had a fun summer so far, and feel so blessed to have added more dancers to our dance family. Our two new teachers, Miss Jen and Miss Kerstin, have been doing great things in the studio this summer. I am confident that you are going to love working with them next year. If you need a reminder on what their experience is, feel free to log on to our blog at www.lcpa-dance.blogspot.com.

Because we have added so many fun, new dancers this summer, I am feeling pressed to get your daughters on class lists for the fall. I would hate to see any of them miss out on being with their class this year! We will be getting our schedule together in July - and then beginning in August, we will be back in the studio. Many of you are aware that we are going to start dancing in August, have our show in late November, and then take the month of December off. I hope that will give all of you a chance to enjoy the Christmas season a bit more. So, if you have time, please email me the following information (lcpa@q.com) :

Receipt of that information will allow your daughter to have a spot held in a class. Registration will be held on August 5th and 6th at the studio from 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM. This year, each dancer will be charged a $25 registration fee. That is due the night of registration. When registration dues are paid, your daughter's spot in class is confirmed. Ballet Intensives will be held August 9-13 and August 16-20. During those two weeks, our dancers will learn about the different roles being offered in our Nutcracker this year, and will be focusing on strength training and technique. I will be sending more information regarding ballet intensives out within the next week.

Our friends at Jamo's pizza have offered to let us have a private "Back To Dance" pizza party. We will have that on Saturday, August 7th, from 10:00 - 11:00 AM. Our teachers will be there for your girls to get to know, and we feel that this will be a fun way to kick off our new dance season. Cost for the pizza party is $5 per person - and includes all you can eat pizza and drinks. Please RSVP for this event so that we can give Jen at Jamos an idea of how many will be attending. Dancers and their immediate family members are welcome to come. And.....we would just like to send a shout out to Jen and James Swensen, owners of Jamos and members of our dance family, for being so generous. This is going to be a fun day!

I miss you! I miss your sweet little dancing feet, and I miss seeing your faces! I can't wait to be together again. I have been busy the past few weeks, organizing our new competitive team, looking at tour dates for our new year, thinking about costumes, and watching our dance family grow. Thanks for making this so magical. It would be nothing without each of you!

Elisse Bonan Shell has been dancing for 19 years. She has a background in classical ballet (Vaganova style), jazz, lyrical, modern, and children's creative dance. She was a lead officer on her high school drill team that took the national title dancing one of her choreographed dances. Elisse has recently graduated with distinction from BYU with a bachelor's degree in dance, with a dual focus in ballet and modern dance. Her choreography has been featured in BYU ballet showcases, and competed at American College Dance Festivals where her contemporary ballet piece was chosen for gala performances. Elisse performed all four years at BYU, beginning with a modern company and the last three years as a member of Showcase and Theatre Ballet, the professional touring ballet company of the university. She has been president of BYU's Theatre and Showcase companies, received numerous talent scholarships, and was awarded her senior year with the prestigious Dean's scholarship - the first ballet student to be awarded it. Elisse is currently a graduate student at the University of Utah, studying for a Master's degree in ballet teaching and choreography.

Miss Jen Spieglehoff comes to us most recently from the Salt Lake Dance Center. She has been teaching ballet, Jazz, Cheer and Tumbling for years in the Salt Lake Valley, and just recently relocated to Erda. Jen started her dance training at The Dance Company in Salt Lake City – where she was a member of the Jazz Works company. While at Jazz works, Jen had the opportunity to travel and compete in California, where she spent time in Los Angeles studying at the Edge Studio. She then went on to attend the University of Utah, where she studied Jazz with Emmy Award Winning choreographer Bonnie Story. Jen has been an instructor for Flava Entertainment, The Dance Company, and the Salt Lake Dance Center. During her time teaching and choreographing in Salt Lake, one of her dancers was chosen to go to “World” competitions in Florida. Her student was awarded a silver for choreography on her routine. We are so excited to have Jen as a staff member here at LCPA!!

Whitney McNabb, Director of Tiny Tot Ballet

Whitney McNabb, originally from Pocatello Idaho, began dance at the age of 5 with the late Ballet master, Marius Zirra. She studied with him until his death in 2004, after which she studied under the direction of Sergiu Brindusa and Beth Moore until 2007. She danced in the pre-professional division for 3 years where she had lead roles in The Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Les Syphide, and Le Corsaire. After High School graduation she danced a summer on scholarship at (Washington D. C.) and then continued her training at Brigham Young University where she was a member of Theatre Ballet and danced lead roles in Swan Lake, West Side Story and Coppelia. She has been fortunate to be trained by ballet master Florin Brindusa, Septime Weber, Summer Lee Ratigan, Janalynn Memmott, Shani Robinson and many more. Whitney has a passion for ballet and a love of dance of all forms. She has training in jazz, clogging, modern and hip hop. Whitney is currently pursuing a nursing degree at the University of Utah where she attends with her husband Griffin. She is excited to continue her ballet training and begin her teaching career with LakePointe Centre for the Performing Arts.

Kerstin Sainsbury, Assistant Choreographer and Cleaner

Miss Kerstin (pronounced Sherstin...Swedish I believe) Sainsbury has been dancing for years, and we are thrilled that she is willing to come dance with us! Kerstin began her training at Utah Dance in Salt Lake City. She was trained in jazz, ballet, hip hop and tap for 15 years. In high school she competed with the national championship drill team Las Scelles, where she was an officer for two years and president her senior year. Her choreography was featured in gala performances in Utah, Florida, and Idaho and continues to be performed today. Kerstin has since performed with the Salt Lake Community jazz company, which highlighted her jazz and contemporary abilities, and then with the Starz Dance professional jazz squad. Kerstin has taught all over the Salt Lake valley - focusing on jazz and contemporary technique – and is excited to bring her talents and knowledge to the Lake Pointe Center for the Performing Arts.

Erin, Guest Instructor

Erin, originally from South Jordan, received her training from the Winner School and Pulse 31 dance studios. Erin has been choreographing professionally throughout Utah and Idaho for over six years. She has worked with 25 teams, which include Brigham, Cedar, South Sevier, Lone Peak, Centennial, and Roy. She has choreographed over 50 competition routines, many concert pieces, basketball and football half-times, and numerous camp routines.
She is a former member of the 7-time National Champion BYU Cougarettes. Erin was a member for three years, two of which she served as Dance Captain. She was Dance Captain when the Cougarettes won their fifth '05 and sixth'06 national titles. Erin currently lives in Draper, where she is a highly sought after choreographer. In addition, this will be Erin's first year as one of the coaches of the 4-time State Champion Bingham High School Minerettes.
A few of Erin's honors include: 2nd attendant at Miss Dance/Drill Team('02), 3rd attendant at Miss Dance/Drill Team USA('02), US Marshall Most Distinguished Athlete of the Year Award, US Dance Team Achievement Award, Dance Sterling Scholar Finalist, All-State Utah Drill Team Member, Miss Supersensational, and numerous individual and team awards.
